Privacy and Confidentiality

At Camino Wellbeing + Mental Health, we take your privacy very seriously. We are committed to protecting your trust by handling your personal information responsibly and ethically. Our practices align with all applicable federal and provincial laws regarding privacy and confidentiality including the Personal Health Information and Protection Act (PHIPA) and the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

We only collect and use information that is necessary to provide you with the services you need. Details about how your information will be used will be shared with you during your service appointment.

To ensure accountability and quality of service, we may need to report data to our various funders. This may include non-identifying data or quotes used in proposals, research, and social media for funding and service improvement purposes. Internally, we analyze aggregate data to enhance service quality and manage risks.

All employees, students, volunteers, and contractors at Camino are required to maintain the confidentiality of any information they handle, both during and after their time with us. Access to confidential client, employee, and donor information is restricted to those within their specific responsibilities.

We prioritize the security of your personal information and personal health information. All staff are required to acknowledge their understanding and commitment to our Privacy and Confidentiality policy annually.

Donor Privacy

We deeply value the trust our donors place in us and are committed to protecting their privacy. We collect personal information from our donors solely for the purpose of processing donations and managing relationships. This information is used to provide tax receipts as required by the Canada Revenue Agency, communicate updates, and offer opportunities to engage with our mission. We do not sell, trade, or share donor information with third parties, except as required by law. Donors have the right to remain anonymous if they choose, and we honour any requests for confidentiality.
