Family Navigator
This program aims to promote and support the physical and emotional wellbeing of young parents, parents-to-be, and their children in our community by proactively meeting the needs of young families.
The Family Navigator collaborates with young families to determine the range of service needs. With their extensive knowledge of mental health, infant and early childhood attachment, the Family Navigator acts as a bridge between the family and services for young parents offered by various community agencies.
Services offered will include basic needs, child development support, parenting support, referrals to community resources/supports, mental health support, advocacy, and more.
Day Program
As part of our Day Program, we offer school in partnership with Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), as well as a variety of groups and drop-ins, and counselling to support young parents and their children.
- Groups and Drop-Ins: These are a great way to bond with your child, make some friends, and build a community.
- Counselling: Available to pregnant and parenting youth using a trauma informed approach. Request a call with our Wayfinding team.
- School Program: Receive elementary or secondary school credits.
School Program for Pregnant and Parenting Youth
In partnership with the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB), we provide an Education Community Partnership Program that gives young parents the opportunity to receive elementary or secondary school credits. Within the school program, there are pre-natal parenting and skills courses that can be taken for credits. The revised curriculum accommodates varying levels of concentration, self-discipline, learning styles and wellbeing to support the student’s needs and goals.
This program is available to any pregnant or parenting youth up to age 21 in the community.
Early Literacy Support
The Early Literacy Support program provides resources for families to help foster an enjoyable and successful journey toward reading. Pre or early literacy encompasses all the skills children need to have before learning to read. These include vocabulary (number of words), speech sounds, listening, and much more.
The Early Literacy Support Specialist will work with you to ensure the best possible outcome for your child, including being ready to read and ready for school.
Supportive Housing
We have apartment units for young parents from ages 16-24, along with their children. This program is available in conjunction with our support services to help foster a bright future for young parents and their families.
More Pregnant and Parenting Supports
In addition to the programs and services mentioned, we offer more supports for all parents, including our pre-natal nutrition program and community resources.
