Ensuring Any Door Is the Right Door

In the past year as part of our commitment to provide even better service to our community, our agency has embraced a “No Wrong Door” approach. This approach ensures program participants can seamlessly access services, regardless of their initial point of contact. Our goal is to simplify and enhance service accessibility where the first point of contact leads to the right supports.

Central to our approach is fostering strong relationships between Camino’s programs and building meaningful connections within our community. We strive to be a welcoming and safe place for everyone, putting our participants at the centre of our work. We are committed to removing barriers to services. Clients can connect with us in whatever way is easiest. Translation services help reduce language barriers. Our focus on collaboration ensures prompt and efficient service connections.

In the past year, the number of service requests has increased, reflecting the growing need in our community, as well as Camino’s expanded reach and the trust our community places in us. Even though requests have increased, our response time to these requests has significantly decreased, a testament to our streamlined processes and dedicated, expert staff. We look forward to building on these achievements and continuing to ensure that every door into our agency leads to the right care and support.

Now, even though we have more programs and services, the process for participants is much simpler. They connect with one person who walks with them on their wellbeing journey. Each Wayfinding team member is well-versed in our diverse programs and community resources. Clients can feel at ease knowing any first step is the right step.

Continued Care and Support Through One Door

For months, Alex had been overwhelmed by anxiety and unsure where to turn for help. He finally opened up to his family doctor about his struggles. The doctor, recognizing Alex needed specialized support, pointed Alex toward Camino.

Alex arrived at our agency feeling apprehensive but hopeful. He was warmly greeted by a member of our Wayfinding Team, who assured him that he was in the right place and promptly connected him to another team member. They listened to Alex’s story, assessed his needs, and provided immediate support, helping him feel more at ease.

Alex was then connected with a counsellor who specialized in anxiety and began attending regular counselling sessions. He gradually started to gain control over his anxiety. His counsellor suggested joining a peer support group, where he found camaraderie and understanding from others who shared similar experiences.

Eager to manage his anxiety independently, Alex also attended our workshops on mindfulness and stress management. These workshops proved invaluable. Alex incorporated mindfulness practices into his daily routine, which significantly improved his wellbeing.

Alex’s journey exemplifies our commitment to ensuring everyone finds the support they need. At Camino, there is no wrong door. We walk alongside our clients, supporting them, and ensuring they receive the seamless care they need, no matter where their journey begins.
