When There Is No Wrong Door, The First Step Is the Right Step

“I just knew you were always there.”

Brian reflected on his journey with Camino’s Quick Response (formerly Walk-In) program.

One sunny day earlier this year, Brian walked into one of our locations to share his gratitude for the profound impact Camino has had on his life.

Brian decided to take a step towards better mental health and it all started with one call to Camino. He was connected with one of our Wayfinding team members who suggested he attend a Quick Response counselling session.

“Knowing I have the walk-ins available, I always have a starting spot or somewhere to get assistance. I am so grateful and appreciate everything Camino does for me.”

Taking this advice, Brian soon began attending walk-in counselling weekly. These sessions became his lifeline, helping him get through the “hard days”. Knowing that support was there and having someone to walk alongside him opened the door for improved wellbeing.

As he says, our Quick Response Walk-in Counselling Program served as his main support system and a solid foundation, leading to many positive changes in his life. Today, Brian is sober, returned to school to earn his high school diploma, and has been accepted into college! Moreover, his sons are back in his life. Brian says the first step in his journey was coming to Camino, and he wouldn’t be where he is today without the support of the team, who walked alongside him on his journey to wellbeing.
