Magic, Connection, and a Gift to Last a Lifetime

When Doors Lead to Unexpected Places

The Lullaby Project is an initiative of Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute, involving over 40 partner organizations worldwide. Camino’s Pregnant and Parenting Youth program had the honour of participating in this project thanks to a collaboration with Centre in the Square and later taken on by the Kitchener Public Library.

“It was an amazing experience that I will keep with me for a long time.”

Three talented local song writers and musicians - Samantha Tai, Amanda Braam, and Jessie T. - collaborated with our program participants, expectant parents, and parents of young children, to write and sing personal lullabies for their babies. The beauty of this project lies not only in the over a dozen lullabies produced but also in the process. Carnegie Hall describes it as supporting parental mental health, aiding childhood development, and strengthening the attachment and bond between parent and child. All these benefits align with the goals of our Pregnant and Parenting Youth Program, which focuses on building healthy parent-child relationships.

Healthy attachment forms the foundation for a child’s emotional and social development, creating a secure base from which they can explore the world.

With our no wrong door approach, every engagement with Camino can lead to new and enriching experiences. These young parents began their journey through the Pregnant and Parenting Youth program, leading to an experience they never imagined. They’ve created tangible expressions of their love, delight and hope for the next generation to cherish.

Please take a moment to sample the incredible lullabies created by the program participants. Each lullaby is as unique and special as the parent who created it. We hope you are moved by these heartfelt expressions inspired by their most important person.
